Impulse and Intuition

By Andrew Messner
July 9, 2018

Most animals

Are pure intuition

As they

Are not plagued

By the disease

Of rational thought.

The process of thinking

Inhibits our

Awareness

Of this dimension

And the dimension

Beyond

Our physical senses.

Before I write a poem

A burst of impulse

Comes from within me

And expands

To my skin

Powerfully and

Unstoppable--

The same impulse

That began the universe

With a bang.

The universe

Is within

All of us

And isn’t

Some abstract

Hypothetical theory;

It’s a force

To be reckoned with

Without

Thought.

The dis-ease

Of humanity

Is rooted

In thinking;

When we think

We disconnect

From the state

Of being.

Being

Is who we are

And not

Who we intend

To be;

We make up

False identities

To cope

With the ailments

That this world

Has created.

But the way you identify

With yourself

Isn’t real;

It’s a concept

That quickly dissolves

Once

You become aware.

Your awareness

Is your choice;

Your unawareness

Is your choice

As well.
